Why buy this Ata product from Bali Spring at Made for Good and what separates us from other sellers?
Made for Good only selects quality products and always select these products personally.
Madé is Balinese and Martijn is Dutch. Together they set up Bali Spring, read more about Bali Spring and watch the video on the introduction page of Bali Spring.
They source each product personally and are in close contact with each producer. Every product that is being sold will go through their hands to ensure the quality.
What seperates us from most sellers is that our products are made of pure Ata. A lot of the same models that are being sold are not pure Ata but a mix of Ata with Rotan, only Rotan or even plastic.
Some similiar and cheaper products even use chemical baths instead of finishing it naturally in the coconut fire oven and in the tropical sun.
Ata ( Lygodium circinnatum) is much stronger then Rotan. It is a fast growing wild plant that is not only very flexible but also sustainable. It will grow again when cut of in the right way.
Each product is handmade and the production process of the Ata products is very labor intensive and very long. From cutting the wild plant to selecting, drying, splitting and weaving.
The products are collectively made by a community of a village in Bali. Due to the intensive work, most people are weaving the Ata products as a side job a few hours a day. Creating an extra income.
